1. Lack of self-awareness

Self-awareness benefits mentors and mentees by identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth.

2. No smart goals

“If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time”. It is important to develop clear ideas of what you want to achieve from your mentoring relationship.

3. Unwilling to learn

Mentorship is a learning experience that goes both ways. You must be open to new ideas and willing to learn from each other.

4. Not communicating effectively

Clear communication with your mentor is important to avoid mistakes.

5. Inappropriate feedback

Feedback is crucial for determining progress in goals, mentoring effectiveness, and areas for improvement.

6. Accountability

To mentor successfully, ensure accountability for goals, actions, decisions, behavior, and performance.
